Do you think that you will never be well again? Does it seem like the hope of recovering from your illness is lost? Irrespective of the periodic health checks and proper nourishment, we often fall ill. If it’s a mild cold or fever, we take the appropriate prescriptions without being too anxious. But when things seem complicated, we consult many physicians with the hope that someone would give the right treatment for our recovery. Sometimes when things go out of hand, we tend to lose hope. However, there is a Hope for the sick in all situations. This Hope doesn’t come from human knowledge but from the divine wisdom of God.
God is the one who created us and He knows every bit of us. There are occasions God uses illness as a judgement against the wicked as seen on numerous occasions in the Bible. Sometimes, God Himself allows illness in our lives to discipline us. When God created the world, there was neither illness nor death. But we disobeyed God and rebelled against Him. Because of our sins, illness and death came into existence. The punishment for our sins is not just physical death but spiritual. Physical death separates our soul from body but spiritual death separates our soul from God.
God loved us so much that He wanted to save us. He sent His Son Jesus into this world to heal us. We find there were so many instances in Jesus’ ministry where He healed the sick as recorded in the Bible. The Bible says, “Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” (Matthew 9:35). Your physical healing might or might not be God’s will. But if you are spiritually healed, He will give you the strength to bear and carry you safely through your illness. King David affirms the healing power of God in the Bible saying, “O Lord my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.” (Psalm 30:2).
Jesus is able to heal you too both physically and spiritually. But our spiritual healing has far more eternal significance than the physical healing we yearn for during our times of illness. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5, “But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.” Jesus suffered on the cross for your sins and died as a substitutionary sacrifice in your place. If you repent and believe in Him, He will heal you spiritually by forgiving all your sins. Do you want to be spiritually healed?
